JM Patterson is a writer, marketer, and professor whose work primarily focuses on the macabre, slightly twisted, and gentle touch of creeping horror. She was born and raised in New England, which holds a special place in her heart and often serves as a backdrop for her stories. JM lives a short drive from where “Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one.” This rich history and the unique atmosphere of New England often find their way into her narratives, adding depth and authenticity to her work.
Jennifer is the daughter of Portuguese immigrants from the island of St. Michael, and her family settled in Massachusetts in the 1960s. Miss Machado is passionate about education and was educated at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (Go Corsairs!). “JP” is not just a writer but a lover of the outdoors. She finds solace in the beauty of New Hampshire, which she considers her second home. Jennifer loves the salt water and the feeling of sand between her toes. If sitting in a hammock was considered an Olympic sport, she would be a gold medalist (Go Team USA!). Her modest following across social media platforms allows her to connect with her audience personally.
“J” is not just a casual reader but a passionate lover of literature. She gravitates (like a moth to the flame) toward dark romance, fantasy, magical realism, dystopia, and horror. This shared love for literature connects her with her readers on a deeper level. Jen loves a good psychological thriller, too! Her inspiration comes from legends such as H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, C.S. Lewis, and J.K. Rowling (to name a few).
She doesn’t “fan-girl” out, but if Jack Torrance or Neville Longbottom sat beside her—she’d probably do it.
